New Codex Supplements have arrived. One of them is Raven Guard. This is the excuse I needed to finally start work on the chapter I’d always wanted to collect. My last WIP homebrew chapter will have to wait. Its Raven Guard all the way.
The challenge with painting RG is the black armour. Its easy for it to look boring, or alternatively to end up looking grey. So I decided to give it a go with spot highlights instead of my usual zenithal highlight.
I primed in Vallejo black primer, then mixed a subtle highlight colour from 50% GW Kantor blue and 50% Vallejo model colour black. This was sprayed at fairly low pressure in places it looked cool, rather than the “correct” places.
After that I mixed a significantly lighter colour from 80% pale blue grey and 20% magic blue. This was sprayed at even lower pressure very catefully within the previous highlight areas.
Other parts were painted in gunmetal and given the usual washes.
