After trying out my home made flip/two tone paint recipe I started painting a Wave Serpent. Although the paint effect worked I decided I wanted a different look, so using the flip paint as a base I gradually added layers from there.
The next step was to make my own hex stencil to apply a partially visible shield effect. I had always planned to do this, which is why I pre sprayed some glowing areas on parts of the surfaces.
Next came more layers of translucent colours in various places, such as Vallejo Hexed Lichen and Red Ink.
The gun turret, other guns and cockpit were painted separately before finsl assembly. The cockpit canopy was tinted from the inside using a careful fine spray of red ink.
