Pedro Kantor Conversion

Although this blog is primarily about painting, I thought I’d make the first post about a conversion. Admittedly, it isn’t the best or most daring conversion out there, neither does it adhere to current 40k lore. It does follow the rule of cool however, at least as far as I’m concerned.

The idea here is that the chapter master should have some sort of significant presence on the tabletop, when compared with other marines. Picture the Captain in Gravis armour from the Dark Imperium box set for example. Thats a nice chunky model that stands out.

The current GW sculpt for Pedro Kantor is a nice model, but when you see it next to a gravis captain, or even a primaris intercessor, it just doesn’t scream “I’m the chapter master… fear me”.

So this conversion takes the Primaris Lieutenant body and legs from the DI set, to give Kantor some mass. The other parts are hacked up bits from various other kits, including the Space Marine Commander, Sternguard, Vanguard Vets and Aggressor kits. The rope on the chest and scroll were made from greenstuff.

The trickiest part to get right was the arm mounted storm bolter, Dorn’s Arrow. I played around with a few ideas using a regular primaris arm and various hacked up bolter bits… but none of them looked right.

So in the end I decided to deviate from the norm and mounted a storm bolter on a powerfist. In game play this wouldn’t be counted as a powerfist, but I thought it looked right.

The next task will be painting him up, probably using some NMM.
